Date night

Erik, Ellen and I helped with an event last Thursday night and had a few leftover hot dogs and brats from Fritz's. We invited Marie and Preston over on Friday for an impromptu dinner (husband/father Clint had previous plans and was missed!).

Ellen and Preston have 'played' together before, but this was probably the first time they actually had a few moments of playing together, along with a lot of chasing and general mischief.

We were hoping to eat outside, but it was just hot. hot. HOT - so , we changed our plans. We moved Ellen's little Ikea table to the 'bistro' (aka - the front entry) and the kids ate while the adults sat at the table. Worked very well!

Ellen and Preston played a good game of push-and-pull-the-table while they were eating, but generally seemed to enjoy themselves.

We did too!

*We also had some mac n' cheese. I haven't always been a homemade mac n' cheese person, but I find that I always have whole milk and shredded cheese in the house for Ellen. Aaah, the pluses and minuses of having children. I use garlic salt and often use whole wheat pasta and veggies, but this time we had good ol' elbows.
