Ages and Stages

Our Parents as Teachers educator came last Friday for Ellen's 14-month visit and she reviewed the 14 Month Questionnaire to assess her development. Ellen was in the normal range, with just a few tasks to work on.

Her fine motor test of the day was to put Cheerios in the opening of a water bottle. She ate every Cheerio, and then finally put the last one in the bottle. Typical.

On Friday, she hadn't yet fed herself with a spoon, or stood up in the middle of the room by herself. Of course, by Sunday she was doing both things. Again, typical. Oh, and she also started shaking her head "no" ... knew that one was coming.

We will keep working on climbing (I, for one, am pleased that she doesn't climb, but the gross motor police don't agree), stacking objects, and scribbling. She is starting to use more words, and her receptive language is obviously growing, so I think we are good there.

Oh, and one more thing ... she is advanced on her personal and social skills. Really? You don't say ...
