A cow says MOO

We spent our Saturday morning north of Lathrop, Missouri at the Shatto Milk Company's farm. I arranged a tour for Junior League and Erik and Ellen were nice enough to join me. It is a bit of a drive - about an hour or so north of our house. Ellen slept in the car. Kind of.

It was also the first COOL day that truly hinted of Fall. Weathervane? Who needs them!

Yes, Erik did milk a cow. Fuzzy was her name.

The cutest calves around ...

We all thought it was very interesting - the people are super nice and their products are delish. We gorged ourselves on samples of milk - banana, orange cream, strawberry, root beer, chocolate (the 3rd best in the world!) and new, super-secret-still-in-beta, coffee milk with The Roasterie coffee! (We are also big fans of The Roasterie - the City of Fountains blend is our house coffee - aren't we fancy!).

They are also starting to make cheese - you can find the cheese curds in local grocery stores, but they are making gouda and other aged cheeses that will hopefully find their way to local Whole Foods stores very soon. We brought some gouda home - YUM.

Make the trip!

I'm so jealous! I keep meaning to take the kiddos on another farm excursion. Especially since we drive by the beer barn almost daily and Jack is always looking for the animals...
