We're back! We had a wonderful trip to Honolulu (sciency-genetics meetings aside). Ellen was happy as a clam when we got back, and the grandparents are still standing, so that seems to be a WIN.
Here are some of the more "scenic" pictures. I bet you can tell who the photographer was. Food will follow in a separate post because, really, we spent our whole time eating.
We took a day trip up to the North shore of Oahu. Ate three lunches, and then walked it off ... a little.

The view from our balcony. We stayed at the end of Waikiki. Lots of noise and great people watching!

We drove around the island up by Diamond Head - amazing views.

This is WAY down there. Surfers' footsteps.

Said surfer ...

One of the very few pictures of us together ... excuse the squinting and pool hair.

Erik hiked up Diamond Head while I was learning about genes.

Beautiful, no?

We finally caught the sunset the night before we left. A little cloudy, but no complaining.

The pier by our hotel ...

Aaahhh ....

Let's pretend this is us ...

We did a lot of this, too. Vacation, right?

This is a replica Buddhist temple on the east side of Oahu. This also isn't too far from where they film Lost - can't you see Jack and Kate popping out of the forest to find this?

Oh, yeah ... the temple is in the middle of a cemetery. In case you are looking for a place ...

We had time to kill on our last day and drove almost all the way around the island. This is the Banzai pipeline. There weren't huge waves yet, but the biggest we saw on our trip.

Maholo.
