Tailgate time

Oh, yes, it's here again. It seems they are really just tailgating for the sake of tailgating, and then later getting riled up by the disappointment of a losing team, but no one asked me.

Ellen and I made it to the first tailgate of the season and then we all got to go for homecoming. It was an early game, so the day started pretty chilly and we were barely there, but enough to say we did it!

Georgia, practicing chugging for her college days ...

And Ellen dancing / doing jumping jacks on the hill. Also practicing for her college days?

Erik's parents both made it up, which was fun for Erik and GREAT for me - love an extra set (or two!) of hands. Betsy is also our faithful tailgate partner.

Erik got the "kitchen pass" and spent the night in Lawrence (on our 10-year anniversary weekend, no less). Can you tell he had fun?
And, of course, he moped about the house the next day and (to put it kindly) had a general malaise. That lasted 48 hours. He complained Monday night that he was too old for this. Well, DUH ?!? He told Ellen he was tired from too much dancing and that our friend, Brandi, made him dance and was a bad influence. (There is no "making" Erik dance). Fast forward to Monday at school and Ellen tells her pre-K teacher that "Grant and Lucy's mom is a bad influence on my Dad! She made him break dance!" Brandi, bless her heart, took it in stride (I think / hope??) as she knows the wily ways of Ellen. Can't wait for conferences!

love that Erik threw Brandi under the bus. Hopefully Ellen doesn't make her pay...
