Happy Halloween!

It's that time again! I attempted two costumes this year instead of one, but both pretty simple. I'm glad we could come to an agreement on a "group costume" as I'm not sure there will be another year to do it!

Fortunately, it was a gorgeous day last Friday for the Halloween Parade at school. Today? A wet, drizzly mess.

Here's a funny: One of Ellen's school friends asked what she was going to be for Halloween. I told her she would wear this - her strongman costume. "No - but what is she going to wear? Where is her costume?" And I explained that this was, in fact, it. So interesting to me that she only considers an outfit you put over your other clothes to be a costume. No judgement here: I totally get the purchased costume thing and I'm sure some years we'll do that, too. I honestly enjoy the crafty aspect of it since there isn't much time for me to use the creative part of my brain these days. And, I think back to when we were kids and most everyone had a costume made or pieced together at home ... just a different time.
(I posted a picture of the girls on Facebook and someone asked how I was able to avoid princess costumes. I told her that I just don't give the girls a choice! It's not that I'm mean (I hope), but I present alternative ideas to Ellen and let her choose what she likes. For the record, she was absolutely thrilled with her mustache and tattoos!)

I also finally made it to a pumpkin patch with just a few days to spare. This is the first year we didn't get to the Louisburg Cider Mill, but I just couldn't deal with the weekend crowd, though I was determined to have pictures of the girls with some pumpkins.

We went to a new little pumpkin patch at Suburban Lawn and Garden this year - worked just great and was close to home!
