Ellen is "participating" in soccer for the first time this Fall. I say "participating" because she was very into it the first week, had something in her eye the second week and moped around, was rained out the third week and missed the fourth week. We shall see how the game this weekend goes ...
The team is a Pre-K team for our local elementary school. Some friends encouraged us to join and we thought it was a great idea for Ellen and us to meet people. Very nice families - not sure soccer is the venue of preference, but worth a shot. I will say that Ellen looks super cute in her gear. Oh, and did I mention Erik is co-coaching? That was a last minute, unplanned addition, but I think he loves it more than she does.
I have never played soccer in my life - the gear is truly foreign to me. Ellen was kicking the ball around in the house the first night she got her gear. Great photo op, then I nipped that in the bud.
First game - mostly a success for Ellen. A few kids cried throughout, but she rallied. There is a little phenom on their team who scores, like, 12 goals in 30 minutes. None of the other kids seem phased by it ...
Georgia gets to hang out with the grandparents and eat Cheerios. Not a bad deal.
Then we had picture day and "player appreciation day" (otherwise known as feed-your-child-ice-cream-at-9-am)
Ells will be sorely disappointed at the lack of snacks this weekend ...

LOVE the pic of her waving at you from the field! Clearly, a girl who is serious about the game :) Will I be considered the worst Aunt of the Year if I don't make it to a game? How many more this season?
Game on! I personally like watching Erik more than I like watching Ellen.
