FROSTY beverage

If these last few days of 114 degree heat index didn't call for a frosty beverage, then I don't know what does.

I read a lot of blogs and several of them linked to these Beer Push-Up Pops this week. Then, there was a recipe. And, then I thought we should try them. I wasn't really sure if it was OK to make beer popsicles for just us, but Erik was meeting some boys for a smoked meat extravaganza, so I totally felt OK with making them for that occasion. And I even felt OK keeping one in the freezer for me. Just to make sure it wasn't poisonous.

The in-the-can method is much more attractive, but something about Erik + hacksaw + tin cans + alcohol = bad idea.

Lime juice and a little simple syrup in the bottom ...

A can of Tecate and DIY popsicle sticks/holders ...

Freeze overnight ...

Indulge!

Frozen to perfection. How would you rate them?

Would say a 7.5-8.0 - taste improves as it gets to be a beer slushy. Think "beer margarita".

The paper plate handguard was inspired. Nice work!

Someone I know is completely jealous. Might be a good contender for kegs & eggs...

Yes! Did it conformly melt like a popsicle, or did it all fall apart like a total mess?

You gotta be kidding!!! I thought alcohol wouldn't freeze...but I think the sticks need to be a little longer...right?

Alt - It's really too big to eat like a normal popsicle, but makes a great slushy with a spoon.

Dinah - Yes, the spoons were too short. That beer expands when it freezes! We could have used less beer, but what is the fun of that?
