Happy Mother's Day!

Poor Ellen is still sick.

Five days and counting of fever, up to 103 each day.

So, my mother's day has so far included hugs during an ear check, throat check and catheterization.

(We also had a delicious brunch with family, including pastries from Dolce Baking Company, so all was not lost).

Erik and I both get to celebrate with our moms today, which is what we are really thankful for. They are both so helpful with Ellen and we don't know how we would make it work without them. That is truly worth celebrating!

I am also reminded today, more than ever, that the job of being a mom is an important one, especially in those times where everything just isn't quite typical. Those cries of "mama, mama, mama!!" are wonderful and heart-wrenching and I couldn't ask for a better gift.

Happy Mom's Day...I think we had similar days! Kids are still coughing from our viral/ear infection week; Kyle and I ended up visiting minute clinic for sinus infections...just as I was putting dinner on the table to celebrate the day (mom's day and my dad's bday) Emma puked and had diarrhea simultaneously...that has persisted throuhout the evening. And I wonder why my parents ate and ran?

ps...I forgot to wish Ellen well ~ I hope that fever goes away and that those teeth pop out soon!! Were her ears clear today?

Clear ears and everything else ... seems just like a nasty virus. Seems that we both were doing a lot of mothering today ... timely, I suppose!

We are having a "camp out" in the family room - sharing the couch and watching wonderpets' mother's day show -fyi crib mattress pads & sheets work great on the couch as a barrier with sick kids!! Hope Miss Ellen is well soon - aren't we fortunate we only deal with the expected ailments of childhood? Happy mothering!
