Kids 2 and under are free, so I got an individual membership + guest so we could have adventures all summer long. I was practically giddy with excitement and Erik was so bummed to miss it. I promised to take pictures.
And then, I didn't.
Ellen was thoroughly underwhelmed with the zoo. She practically sulked in her stroller for an hour and a half, which is SO uncharacteristic for her. I guess I had rosy memories of the zoo, but I hadn't been in years. There are some nice exhibits, but not really the kind that a 17-month-old would find exciting. Especially without another adult to help manage her and the stroller and gear. The polar bear exhibit is supposed to open later this summer, which I think she will find exciting, so we'll try again.
I felt defeated, so we just hung out in the front yard for the rest of the day, which Ellen found much more enjoyable.
As an aside, this chalk is cheap-o from Target and is probably made in China. No ingredients listed on the container. Suspicious. Martha made her own on TV this week - perhaps I should give it a go, as it appears we have a chalk-eater.

Mmmmmmm...chalk. Love her blond pony tail! Maybe we can tackle the zoo together this summer.
As your father would say --- just give her some lima beans!
