The latest

Just a few updates ...

Georgia had her 2 month appointment yesterday, though she is actually 10 weeks old today. No major issues, looking good! She had her first round of shots and handled them (mostly) like a champ. Some sore legs in the afternoon and she didn't feel much like eating, but slept like a pro. Love that girl. She weighs 10 pounds, 11.6 ounces (50th %ile), is 21 3/4 inches long (25th %ile) and her head is 15 1/4 inches (75th %ile). I looked back at Ellen's two month stats and Georgia is almost a pound heavier and an inch longer, but some of that may be 10 weeks vs. 8 weeks. It's funny because I keep saying that Georgia seems so much longer to me - growing out of clothes left and right.

Otherwise, I am working on trying to get Georgia taking all of her naps in her crib and firming up her schedule, right before she starts daycare where I am sure she will get all messed up. At least I know to expect it this time. We borrowed this swing at the last minute from a friend and it has been a GODSEND.
And a few pics from the end of the year. Ellen LOVES to cook / bake with me right now, so I find myself trying to save jobs when I'm making dinner that she can help with. I'm happy about it, but I also have to budget "Ellen time" into my dinner schedule. She will also set the table and the other new thing is that she finds it really fun to put away her laundry! If I can pat myself on the back, I do think I have mastered the parenting skill of making chores Sound! Like! FUN! Awhile back I introduced the concept of "room inspection" when I was asking her to clean up her playroom. When phrased like a fun adventure, it must have sounded exciting, bless her OCD-heart (like mother, like daughter). It's not every day, but she is genuinely excited now to clean her room (on occasion) and have me inspect it - even getting upset the other day that our cleaning lady "messed it up" (i.e. moved some of her 376 animals around on the bed).
We had some low-key New Year's plans that fell through due to a sick kid, which turned out to be fine because Georgia had a really rough night the night before and I was totally wiped out. We made pizzas at home and had Nutella S'mores for dessert, roasting the marshmallows on our gas range. Juuussstt right.
And just a few more worth sharing ... Ellen in her 3D movie glasses. We went to see Monsters, Inc. with Betsy over her break - it was Ellen's first movie in the theater. She had never seen it, but I showed her the trailer and explained what it was about. Not super surprisingly, she got freaked out mid-way through and cried to leave, though I was able to calm her down and she sat in my lap for the rest of it. A few days after we picked out new books at the library (because Bday / Xmas gifts weren't entertaining enough, apparently) and she picked Monsters, Inc. as her DVD to bring home. She watched it a trillion times and now Ellen and Mike Wazowski are BFF's.

And Georgia, skeptical of Ellen "helping" with her bath. Poor Georgia gets mostly sponge baths and I stick her head under the faucet to wash her hair. She doesn't love her bathtub and the baby tub sits weirdly in the sink in this house, so she is harder to bathe in it than Ellen was. I'm just chalking up the infrequent baths to a winter baby with sensitive / dry skin, OK? OK.

Love the kitchen pic. She now pulls a chair over to my counter to cook with me too.
