Time flies when you're having fun!
Are we having fun? Well, yes and no.
Georgia is a sweet little baby and we are delighted to have her, OF COURSE. That being said, Erik and I both looked at each other one night, exhausted, and said "now I remember that I like toddlers better". Just being honest - for every wonderful snuggle and baby snort, there is an equally trying crying session or late night.
Georgia continues to eat great and seems to be gaining weight well with a few of her eensie-weensie newborn outfits getting too small. We'll have her 1 month check-up a little late to coincide with Ellen's four-year check-up. She does seem to have reflux, which was never an issue with Ellen. Poor little thing just grunts and groans and screams after eating and while she naps. I'm hoping some medicine may be in her future to make her a little happier.
Otherwise, she is a great snuggler when she isn't arching her back and getting mad. I think it's partially because she likes to be upright, but she nestles right into your neck and breathes hard and heavy in your ear. It's the cutest thing you've ever seen and, at the same time, mildly creepy. :) She is starting to stretch out a bit, but still really prefers to keep her legs crunched up like when she was squished in my belly.
Her sleeping is improving, probably due to lots of variables we changed all at once: propped her mattress, kept forcing the swaddle, have been working more on daytime naps, added a sound machine and she is getting older. Phew. She can reliably go 5 hours between feedings at night, with an occasional 6 hours. We are getting better at settling her down to go back to sleep, which adds to everyone's happiness.
All in all, it's a good time. It seems that Christmas is, like, tomorrow and then it seems I go right back to work after that. I'm trying to slow down this freight train of a holiday season and enjoy every minute. Very much looking forward to the smiles and coos that are (hopefully!) right around the corner ...
