Do you Zoo?

I renewed our membership to the Kansas City Zoo and we made our first trip last weekend! We live close enough that it is pretty easy to just stop by for a quick view of the polar bears, or a quick ride on the carousel, and then leave. Last summer we did a lot of walks around Africa, and this summer I think we'll explore a little more. Ellen is big enough that she is more into it now (versus our first trip last summer - fail), and I don't have to worry about her falling asleep on the way home and messing up the rest of our day!

Ellen had her first carousel ride and was a big fan. We visited the zoo with my cousin's husband and their daughter who we haven't seen in almost 8 years! It was great fun and Ellen asked, "Where Mark and Caroline?" each time we came around (and around, and around, and around ..)

Caroline was so patient with Ellen, and Ellen wanted to do everything she did. The Africa portion of the Zoo is under construction until the sky walk thing is finished being built, so we were searching for elephants ...

And my sister got a great picture of us looking for Nikita the polar bear. Erik is convinced that he is a robot because he says the bear swims the exact same circuit every time we visit? Either that or Nikita has a bit of OCD. (You can see more of Betsy's pictures at The View Across Town).
