Ode to Bryants ...

During a recent web excursion to Fork Knife & Shovel, I was inspired to get off my keister and document our next food-inspired outing.

Well ... a few of Molly's relatives came in from DC and were seeking a BBQ fix. Behold ladies & gentlemen ... Arther Bryant's!

Not sure anything in this town creates more debate and riles up the emotions as much as BBQ. Everybody has their favorite spot ... it could be almost religious. Here is what I love about Bryant's. The history ...

The man, the myth, the legend. Arthur Bryant (1900 - 1982). You know the sign that you are an icon? When the Kansas City Star runs this on the day of your funeral.

The ambiance. A classic order at the counter BBQ joint. The way it should be!

(Please note the industrial sized paint brush used to lather up your meats.)

The sauce. Vinegar based. Pungent. A touch of grit. Solid. Arthur once said, "I make it so you can put it on bread and eat it." Hells yes!

The ribs. Arguably the best in town. They were exceptionally delicious on this occasion. Eat up.

And finally .... the circle of life in living color ... spreading BBQ addition to the next generation.
