Heaven, help us

We had a great Thanksgiving - hope you did, too. No pictures to show for it, but full bellies and unbuttoned pants.

Just wanted to jot down an "Ellen-ism" for posterity:

I was getting dressed today to run errands and Ellen was in her "house" (her pack n' play in our room). She hung her head over the side and casually said,

"I push mommy in bafroom"
(I occasionally throw Ellen in the shower with me to save time. Earlier this week she was in the shower, screaming because of some ungodly torture - like water on her face - and she pushed me backward into the faucet. Yes, she got in trouble.)

No, Ellen, you don't push mommy. Is that nice or mean?

"Mean"
"I push people"

No, Ellen, we don't push. That is mean.
It hurts mommy's feelings when you push. It makes me sad.

"I hit mommy"

No, Ellen, it is mean to hit. We don't hit people. It makes me sad when you hit.

Then, she proceeded to giggle and mock me and rub her eyes like she was pretend crying and she said "wah, wah, wah".

So, there's that.

Our weekend has otherwise been filled with lots of coughing and blowing of noses. I have had a terrible cold and I just finally felt good enough to have a glass of wine last night, and that's saying something. Ellen has it, too, so our days are punctuated by shouts of "MY NOSE!" when her nose is running ("my nose is tuffy, mama").

Diva, diva, diva ....

Don't tell her I've been hurt all day ... she might insist that you bring her over so she can kick me while I'm down!

Dear Ellen,

I can not handle this news.

I hope Lucy did not rub her Diva ways off onto your sweet face.

If you must be stinky, please remember to occasionally throw your mommy a bone in the form of a hug or kiss....it will go a long way.

I deal with the "pushing" a lot. I think sometimes Noah thinks it's a term of endearment.
