Our commentary on the walk home and back to the kitchen for 'coffee talk':
Dis nummy.

I play Betsy.
(putting bracelets on her wrist)
One, two, one.
No, Ellen - one, two, ? (holding up 3 fingers)
Four!
No, three. Uno, dos, ?
Cinco!
Bye, bye.
Where are you going?
Cos-co.

Yes. Bunnies and coffee. See you later.
You're leaving?
Away. I go, tooooo. (walking away with her bracelets and coffee cup ....)
Dolphin sleepy. (New stuffed dolphin from Florida named, cleverly, Florida).
Need covers.
Do you want this blanket for dolphin?
Yes. Nigh-nigh dolphin.
Wake-up, dolphin.
Here. Read book. Change diapey, dolphin.
She has also become so inquisitive ... "what dis? what dis? WHAT DIS?" And now, expanding it to "what dis is, mommy?" I correct her every time ... "What is this?" Then she says, "what dis called?"
Last night we left early from a class because, well, Ellen was not playing well with others. A flag was flapping against the flagpole in the wind and she said, "what dat noise, mommy? dat bang bang?"
I love watching her language develop, though not as much when it consists of "I color dat." "I color pen. Wall."

Heard a cute story today from one of John's exercise partners. He has a 5 year old who had misbehaved at the store, so his father was having a "chat" with him on his behavior. "But I wasn't as bad as Johnny is when he goes to the store." Johnny is not a good role model for you, you need to find a better example of how to act." "Well, Daddy, who would that be?" "Maybe Jesus Christ." "OH NO! Please don't let it be HIM!!!!" Chuckle, chuckle. You have a looong way to go!

Glad she's got a love of jewelry just like Aunt Betsy! I was afraid that maybe should would have hated the bracelets. Glad I was wrong! :)
Maybe Ellen could have called this morning to remind me to "Play Betsy." I forgot to put on any jewelry as I was late to leave for work. I felt naked!
Love the commentary- can totally hear her saying all of this. P is in a big what dat phase, too...even when he knows exactly what it is!
