Happenings

As August comes to an end, I'm purging my camera and remembering the fun things we did this month. I don't think we made the most of our summer in terms of outings and swimming and such, but we have made good house progress and it's OK because Ellen won't remember.

Did I even mention that our sweet nieces came to town for a nice long visit? Ellen has been moaning this week "I miss my cousins. My Kate and Sophie. I drive a plane to Denver to see them?" We miss them, too.

Yes, there has been a bit of DVD watching in this house. Ellen has decided she mostly doesn't like to nap, but she does apparently like to dress up while Mommy does projects? We don't make her wear headphones, but she sure likes to.

And, I guess she likes to dress for dinner. Tonight we had chicken in Masala Simmer Sauce and garlic Naan bread - thank you, Trader Joe's! Ellen ate it all up - "Mmmm, I like this Naan bread, mama." Me too, sis.

We did make it back to the pool after our last visit 2 months ago. Pitiful. Ellen couldn't get enough of the water and swimming - such a difference from last summer!

And, tonight she was playing school with her new backpack. She is desperate to go to the elementary school around the corner and can't understand why she isn't big enough. She also really wanted a backpack like her friend Lucy, so that was easier to accomplish. This is Ellen playing school, where apparently she is the lunch lady working the cash register?

Here's to September!
