Nice little Fourth of July around here ...
We did fireworks the night of the 3rd at Bishop Miege with friends. It is really the best - everyone is well rested, you can mark it off your list, then put the kids to be early on the 4th because they are exhausted. Mark it down for next year.
Village Fest in the morning first thing, a truly gorgeous day. I kept saying it and it might be true: the nicest weather we'll ever see on the Fourth of July. Bounced, painted faces, goofed around ... and .... cried. Who I am kidding? Tears from someone, always, and usually both of them.
Some typical home shenanigans: Ellen reading to Georgia in Erik's God Bless America swimtrunks. What - this doesn't happen at your house?
Then a casual dinner at our house with our neighborhood friends. And fireworks. And no trees caught on fire - winning!
Ellen and Wes wrapped up the evening with a dance routine. Ellen's plan, as you might imagine - always leading, that girl.
