Last weekend, Ellen was a flower girl in one of her school teacher's weddings. There were actually TEN flower girls, most 5 and under. Crazy town. This was Ellen's teacher from her 2-year-old room at school and a very occasional babysitter (not because we don't like her, but because the grandparents are usually available. If we haven't said it enough, THANKS!!). Her teacher's father was a special reader in that classroom and Ellen, along with many of the other kids, loved spending time with him. He sadly died last year from cancer and Ellen's teacher wanted these girls to be a part of her special day and it was nice that Ellen could participate.
Her teacher approached me with this idea after I first found out I was pregnant. Her wedding was two days after my due date. I didn't know if we could commit, but we just decided to go with it and assumed it would all work out, as things usually do. It actually turned out to be great timing - Erik took Ellen to the wedding and it was nice for her to have something special to look forward to, along with lots of attention that didn't involve Georgia. And, did I mention dancing? DANCING!!
Erik has lots of videos on his phone, which kind of make you nauseous to watch because he can't quite figure out the orientation on that thing, but to summarize: Ellen loves to dance. She shakes her booty the second she hears music. She has a natural fist pump that fits the beat of every song. There were tons of children dancing all over the place and she appeared to have her own "dance off" with the little boy who was the star of the show, to Gangnam Style nonetheless. It was hilarious. She continues to talk about practicing the dance moves she observed at the reception and now wants to marry the little boy who was the best dancer. (She previously wanted to marry Erik's fraternity brother - a story for another time).
So cute, right?
And, an outtake from our front yard photo shoot - too good not to share!
