Contrary to how it looks on this blog lately, I have taken some pictures of Ellen this month. We had a mother-daughter trip to the pumpkin patch early in October. We've been to the Louisburg Cider Mill every year and I didn't want to miss it, but wasn't sure we would actually get there later in the month. It was the first pretty chilly day, so we ate our donuts, took a few pictures and got out of there!
(Ellen is increasingly resistant to posing for pictures, as you will see)
And, of course, her Halloween costume! I have been working on this thing for over 2 months. Not because it was difficult, but because I would start some piece of it then get distracted by 100 other projects. I suggested to Ellen that she be an "Egyptian Queen" and she was totally on board. One, because she has a current obsession with all things Egypt and, two, because it was princess-y. She poo-poo'd my other idea of a gumball machine. I'm sure this is the last year I get a say in the matter, but next year Baby Sister can be my guinea pig!
Again, virtually impossible to get a "nice" picture of her in her costume. (You should see the outtakes).
Erik's brother and our nieces came for a visit over their Fall break, so the girls got to spend tons of time together and Ellen was so happy they could come to her school costume parade! (Not very organized, according to Kate. She is a keen observer.)
More clowning around at school. These are some of Ellen's buddies from her class. Who taught Ellen to pose like that? I'm blaming her father. You can also see why a gumball machine just wasn't going to cut it in this group.

Good thing you found time for this post. Otherwise Halloween might have gone un-noticed. I predict it will take a back seat to baby girl's birthday going forward.
I love these. That spunky Ellen is just a treasure. Enjoy this night! Very excited to have second cousins (right?) share a birthday. Hugs to you 4!
Ellen's look of disgust reminds me of a picture of you way back when - sometime around kindergarten. Love the similarity I see in you two (I usually see Erik!)
Hope you are settling in ok as a family of 4 :) Can't wait to meet Miss Georgia!!
xoxo Liz
