Fun Fourth!

Fourth of July on a Wednesday just kind of throws you off, doesn't it? We aren't taking any time off work / school, so had to squeeze some fun into a short period of time.

We did some kid-friendly fireworks with our friends up the street. Snap Pops? Sure! (Ells was in her swimsuit just, well, to be prepared for anything).

And the smoke bombs were kind of fun, until they weren't. Too smelly for Ellen. Too smokey for Wes.

Molly the Science Nerd brought Coke Bombs. They were pretty fun, if not short-lived. And - bonus! - not noisy or smelly.

And a couple of family pics ...

And we did attempt big fireworks for the first time. Our other good friends had prime seats for the show at Miege and invited us along. And, it was on TUESDAY night! The best idea ever. Ells snuggled in for the show, decided she wasn't quite close enough and ran off with Erik to get up close and personal, and then ran back not long after when it was a bit too loud. Glad we did it, though - who knows what next year will be like!
Ellen was in bed at 10:30pm, up bright and early at 7am and we were off to Village Fest before it got TOO hot. She didn't nap, but I did for 2+ hours and finally felt like a human being after an iced coffee at 4:15pm.

Back to work for one day for me, then more weekend! What to do, what to do ... oh yeah ... stay inside.
