Hope everyone had a great Father's day!
Ours was busy and fun - we got to spend time with both of our fathers and celebrate our niece's first birthday. Not too shabby!
Erik got to sleep in and Ellen and I watched Beauty and The Beast for the first time. Despite sleeping a little bit late, she was in a "mood" all morning and kept crying off and on. I thought she might be scared and offered to turn off the movie multiple times, but she wouldn't agree. When it was finally over she just wouldn't.stop.crying. I kept asking, what's wrong? what's wrong? what's wrong??? And, finally, she just wailed - "I WANT TO GET MARRIED LIKE THAT!"
And that, my friends, is how Erik got woken up on Father's Day.
Erik is a wonderful father and we are so lucky to share our lives with him. He is goofy and playful and fun - which comes as no surprise - though can throw down the discipline gauntlet when called for (more successfully than me many times, I might add). He is the yin to my yang and I hope our child (children? yikes) can benefit from seeing both sides to the coin. He fully contributes his 50% to this parenting thing, and many days more than 50%, and I feel confidant that we can tackle #2, no matter what she throws our way. (Please remind me I said this in about 6 months).
Ellen is just happy she has someone to ride the bus to school with on water day (see above) and, really, what more could you ask for?
