Georgia update

Poor little second-child Georgia .. I have the best of intentions of documenting her life, then fall very short. I do have a baby book for her, though it's still shrink-wrapped. I do have a list of her accomplishments, though in my phone. I do have a quite a few pictures and videos, yet not printed anywhere. And - I went looking for January 2013 pictures of her and I realized I had ZERO with my good camera. A first!

I think we left off with Georgia becoming a pretty good walker and, by Christmas, she was really walking all the time. If she fell down, she popped right back up and kept walking. I kind of miss her speedy little crawl and the way she would stop to look up at me and push her legs back, like a little frog. She finally found the stairs after Christmas and very confidently went from the bottom to the top, no problem (and then we found the baby gate in the basement). If she sees someone get their coat on or act like they are going to leave, she walks to the laundry room and tugs on her coat, too. She is not a fan of being left behind.
Early January she started to have a bit more of the toddler tantrum behavior and if she didn't want to do something, she would stop and sit down, or turn away from you and grunt or hit your hand away. NO continues to be her least favorite word and she can erupt into tears in no time flat - drama!

If I tell her we need to brush her hair she will run her hand through it like a brush. If we ask her if she is cold she says, BRRRRR!

She and Ellen continue to play pretty well together, though Ellen is doing more "policing" of her things these days.
Again with the second-child syndrome, I wasn't sure if Georgia was on track with her little milestones, so I dug out Ellen's old Parents As Teachers assessment and ran through it. Many of the things I had never done with Georgia (GUILT), but she checked them all off: stacking, sorting, coloring.
She is not very verbal at all, but uses signs appropriately and very much communicates her wishes. She follows directions really well and loves to "help" us by putting things away or taking things to the trash. I think she is much more advanced than Ellen was in the motor skills department, so I bet it will eventually all even out. Hard to remember that Georgia is not Ellen #2, but rather Georgia #1!

In the midst of illness after illness, she was finally weaned just before our trip to Austin and didn't skip a beat. She is the most flexible child, I swear, when it comes to things like that. She continues to eat very well - her most favorite food lately is pomegranate seeds, followed closely by anything that looks like a carb. She continues to be a great sleeper and is so delighted when we tell her it's time for night-nights! She snuggles up with her loveys and her baby doll and goes straight to sleep. Amen. She is such a cuddly, affectionate child - never happier than when I sit on the floor with her and she can crawl all over me, back up and sit down in my lap, give me a hug, and do it over and over again. On a related note, she is not at all happy when I am doing something other than that, so we've reached the stage where it is officially easier to have both children at home at the same time, strictly for entertainment purposes.

It was just way, way too cold to have her outside this week to play in the snow, so she had to watch from the window and was none too pleased with the situation:

Love the update on sweet Georgia #1. :) I agree it is easier when they are both home at this stage - although still "all hands on deck". :) I'm dreading Molly going to Pre-K next year and being away more days of the week - we will have to get together for a playdate with our littles in the fall!
